Of course I did. Why on earth would I put myself through all the hassle that being a JW entails without believing in paradise (as crazy as that is) -

The RNWT "Silver Sword" is taking its place in revised history.
by DATA-DOG init's no secret that i do not study for meetings, prepare for failed circus, conduct "mormon night", or read the bible much or pray anymore.
even so, i do keep a close eye on the goings on in dub-land.
i just noticed something interesting on the front page of the latest km.

I never understood why they were using "revised" anyway. It's been revised several times since originally released. -

Candace Conti - Consequence for Elders
by The Searcher inbodies of elders around the world will soon (tm) receive a nicely worded letter from the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, telling them that local elders are now responsible for ensuring that no perverts are allowed to be alone with any children on any kind of witness business, otherwise, the boe will be accountable to the courts - not the org!.
however, if the elders are aware that bro.
& sister oblivious sometimes ask bro.

I agree Flipper, it seems like they could at least say that a molester is not eligible to go out in service or recognized as publisher. That way, if the individual did try something on his or her own, they could use that as a defense. Remember, it's not about protecting kids or the public, it's about protecting the WTS bottom line. They honestly don't care what happens to anyone in the local congregations. -

LATEST NEWS: CANDANCE CONTI VERIDICT READY - WT LOST!!!!!!!
by Viva la Vida ini'm not an expert but that is my understanding of this: .
opinion filed.. (signed published) the judgment against defendants on the negligence count is affirmed.
the judgment against watchtower on the cause of action for punitive damages is reversed with directions to enter judgment for watchtower on punitive damages.

I had a feeling that the punitive amount was going to be thrown out. However, this is still a victory for Conti and sets a precedent.
Well done!!!

15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com
by Simon inyes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

Just wanted to express my thanks for this site. It has helped me more than you could possibly imagine. I lurked for months before joining and those discussions really gave me the courage to reflect on what I was doing and what I believed my whole life. While I"m still not physically free, I am mentally free and that will NEVER change. -

I was on one of those probably 10 years or so ago. As Blondie described, we would work with the local hospital (in my case it was a Catholic hospital) and I actually got a clergy parking pass (LOL - I think I still have it, never used it but I thought it was funny). On the week I was assigned, I'd call the chaplain to ask if any JWs were in the hospital and needed a visit every other day. I'd pop down there, check to see if their elders had been visiting them. Sometimes they would say no and being the uber zealous elder I was I would find out what congregation they were in and call the PO. It wasn't a big deal, I'd do the daily text or something with them and then offer a prayer. 10 minute visit tops unless they really needed something which in most cases they had family or folks from the hall already helping them.
Honestly, most weeks there would be no one on the list. That's why I started calling the chaplain (great guy by the way) instead of wasting time going to the hospital.
We only visited those who specifically requested a visit from a JW minister. Since it was a Catholic hospital, I think in that case the chaplain did most of the visiting but had a list of other religions with ministers available to met their patients needs.
Overall I thought it was a nice program.

JW NFL Player Retires
by Barrold Bonds inthis is news to me, despite somewhat following the steelers.. http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2015/03/11/steelers-free-agent-jason-worilds-announces-his-departure-from-football/stories/201503110155.
with all the surprises that were delivered around the nfl tuesday, jason worilds has pulled another.
the steelers free agent linebacker announced early this morning that he was leaving football.. and the steelers believe he means it.. steelers sources told the post-gazette today that they believe worilds, who became an unrestricted free agent on tuesday, is serious about walking away from football at the age of 27 to work for his religion, jehovahs witnesses, and that there is no hidden agenda involved in his decision.. i appreciate all of the interest from the organizations that have reached out to us the past few days, worilds wrote on twitter.

very interesting but I agree with OTWO. I'm sure his story will be in a WT article in the future. -

Devouring the Forbidden Fruit - Higher Education
by cappytan inwell, i told my wife over the weekend i was going to go back school to finish my degree.
she is 100% supportive of it!
apparently she doesn't think higher education is so evil either.. since my former major was computer programming and that was in the late 1990's, i was told i'd have to retake a bunch of classes since times have changed.

Congratulations on a fantastic decision!!!! I went back to school at 35 (and while still an elder LOL) and it was the best decision I could have made. Good luck -

New "donation" arrangement begins to FAIL
by Tech49 inso here we are, almost a year into the "new" congregation donation arrangement.
and its beginning, as was predicted, to fail miserably, and to have direct negative consequences on the poor sheep.. let me give you a little experience, directly from our congregation of about 80 publishers.
back in may, after reading the letter about the "new" arrangement, the elder body decided to "donate" the extra funds on hand to wt, as directed.

I'll have to check the posted accounts report because I don't even remember what the tithing err voluntary congregation donation was each month.
As many said at the time this was implemented, people tend to be overly optimistic about their ability to contribute on those anonymous surveys and as a result, there was an unrealistic amount promised. And the WTS likely knew this was going to be the case. Certainly seems to open the way for a tithing arrangement so they can track the slackers.
I thought about putting down $100 per month on a slip but I've shared in so much deception as a JW that I simply can't be bothered anymore. So we didn't turn a slip in.
